** Books and materials for each class will be provided at the first life group meeting**

POWER OF A PRAYING GRANDPARENT with Connie Adrion (Early Class)  The Power of a Praying Grandparent is a book written by Stormie Omartian to help we as grandparents to pray for our grandchildren and teach them love of God.  We will also learn the way to teach them how to love as well. This is a book for grandparents, a book for parents, and a book to help us all learn to pray a different way for our children and grandchildren.

MOSES with Rev. Bud Reeves  It doesn’t get much more dramatic: rescued baby, life in the courts of Pharaoh, parting the Red Sea, leading his people out of Egypt… Moses’ life was one challenge after the next. Although he resisted God’s calling, by the end of his life he successfully fulfilled the role he was given. Using Adam Hamilton’s book and videos, we will combine historical information, archaeological data, and biblical text to gain a better understanding of Moses’ significance to today and discover how to can turn your own reluctance into boldness.

CARING THROUGH CARDS with Kelly DeSoto & Gail Oakes  This card-making class is for individuals interested in hand-making Seasonal Greeting cards to be sent out to congregation members. There will be a short devotional & prayer each week.  The class is fun with  lots of fellowship and no prep work, homework or outside reading required.

JOB AND THE MYSTERY OF SUFFERING with Rev. Sara Bayles  Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does pain and suffering exist in the world? Join Rev. Sara as we study the book of Job to explore the mystery of suffering in Job’s life through the teaching of Richard Rohr. This study is open to all as we will discover the spiritual practices in this Lenten Season.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY (FLEX) with Carey Reeves   The money class that will change your life. Make 2018 the year you take control of your money.  When it comes to managing money this class will teach you how to: 1)become debt free 2)prepare for the future 3) get on a plan. Membership kits are available through the church office. Make plans to invest $84 dollars and 9 weeks of your time in this life-changing class taught by Dave Ramsey and the FPU teaching team via streaming media. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever. This class is open to all ages as financial goals and stewardship are skills for us all to learn and grow in.

BUECHNER & BERRY with Rev. Dane Womack  Two of the most important, modern communicators of the Christian faith are Wendell Berry and Frederick Buechner. In this WNL Group, we will read and discuss some of Berry’s short stories as well as Buechner’s painfully rich reflections on the beauty of the ordinary life. This group is perfect for someone who enjoys fiction or wants to develop a deeper appreciation for the everyday. Please join Rev. Dane Womack as we consider the sadness, goodness, and joy of our seemingly common yet divinely shaped lives.

YOUTH with Matt & Alice Alt  Come hang with your FIRST YOUTH family during WNL! We’ll have a topical discussion and Bible study with the Alt’s. We also offer Open Loft before WNL. Open Loft is a free time in our youth room from 3:30-5:30 before communion. Come see what God is doing in our youth group on Wednesdays!

COLLEGE CLASS with Michael Mings  College Students are invited to study Adam Hamilton’s book, Half-Truths, God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say. Our goal in studying the topic of half-truths is to think through some of the things we may hear and say that sound Biblically rooted at first, but after some thought, may not be as true as we think. Reading the book is suggested though not required as we will show videos from Adam Hamilton’s sermon series on his book. Come hang with us!

CHILDREN with Sally Ware, Karen Wyatt, & Kelly Jacimore  Children grades 1st through 6th grades will be playing Survivor 2.0 2017—“Outwit Outplay OutPray!” We will have new challenges, games and some crazy snacks. Nursery available for ages 0- Kindergarten.
